In Loving Memory of Debra Kay Hubert

November 7, 1960 – October 7, 2026

Debra Kay Hubert, 65, of Sterling, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her home on October 7, 2026, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family and friends.

Debra was born on November 7, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Joyce Ann Morse. She married John Richard Hubert on April 1,1981.

Throughout her life, Debra worked many different jobs in a variety of fields. She was always willing to learn something new and never afraid to try something different. But above all else, her greatest role was being a mother and homemaker. Debra was a mother in every sense of the word. She gave birth to three children and loved them fiercely, wholeheartedly, and without hesitation. She was there for every performance, every game, and every opportunity to cheer them on. Her children never had to wonder whether she was in their corner. She was always there, loving them, supporting them, and making sure they knew it.

Debra was incredibly loving, witty, sarcastic, and stubborn as hell. She had a sharp sense of humor and was never short on a smart comeback. You could always count on her to argue with you about something, even if it was as simple as the color of the sky. She had a strong mind, a strong will, and a personality that could never be mistaken for anyone else's. She loved deeply, spoke her mind, and was never one to back down from an argument. Those who knew her best understood that behind the sarcasm, the stubbornness, and the quick comebacks was a heart full of love.

As much as Debra loved her children, becoming a grandmother brought her another kind of joy. Her grandchildren held an incredibly special place in her heart. She loved reading to them when they were little and sharing her knowledge, wisdom, and life lessons as they grew older. She treasured the opportunity to watch them learn, grow, and become their own people. Whether she was teaching them something new, spending time with them, or simply being there, she made sure they knew they were loved.

Although Debra and John divorced in 2007, their lives remained connected. They remained friends sometimes but always knew they could count on one another.

Debra is survived by her daughter, Michelle Dennis of Lawton; her mother and stepfather, Joyce and Eddie Morse of Sterling; her father, Allen Conley of Lawton; her grandchildren, Xavier Dennis, Tatum Hubert, Sylas Connywerdy, Andrew Dennis, Aurora Hubert, and Emily Miles, all of Lawton; her sister, Kathy Herring of Lawton; her sister and brother-in-law, Trish and Vernon Hokeah of Lawton; her nieces, Sandra Davis, Shanon Hubert, Tanya Davis, and Tammy Wharton, all of Lawton; her nephew and his spouse, James and Andrea Hubert and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Kay Hubert; her son, Richard Allen Hubert; her former husband, John Richard Hubert; her brother, Allen Dwayne Conley; and her sister, Sherry Maria Conley.

Debra's absence will leave an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her. She will be missed in the big moments and the little ones—in the conversations, the laughter, the familiar arguments, the quick-witted remarks, and the everyday moments that once seemed ordinary but will now be cherished memories.

Her love for her family, her willingness to help others, her unmistakable sense of humor, and her fiercely independent spirit will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a family who will carry her love with them, her lessons to guide them, and her voice and laughter in their memories.

Debra was loved fiercely in life, and she will be loved infinitely beyond it. She will be missed more than words can ever express.

Graveside services will be at Celestial Gardens in Cyril on Saturday October 10th at 1:00PM. Gathering of family and friends will precede the services at the home of Michelle Dennis.

The family would like to issue a very special thank you to Complete Hospice of Lawton and especially her nurses, Tara Lou and Mackalicious. Without them, this journey would have been impossible. Our heartfelt thank you to the whole team.
