January 24, 1975 – July 17, 2026

Thomas William “Jake” Jakubowski, age 51, of Holliday, Texas passed away peacefully in Wichita Falls, Texas on July 17, 2026.

Jake along with his twin brother Charles Frances was born on January 24, 1975, to William Frances Jakubowski and Cheryl Marie Andrews in Iowa City, Iowa.

Jake proudly served in the United States Army from February 1994 until his retirement in February 2015 with an honorable discharge. During his distinguished career, he deployed once to Korea, twice to Kuwait, and twice to Iraq. Jake was stationed in Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, and New York with11 years of his service at Fort Hood, Texas. Jake loved serving his country and cherished many friendships he made throughout his military career. The soldiers he served alongside became lifelong friends, creating memories and bonds he carried with him long after his retirement.

While in the army Jake received the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Amry Achievement Award (8th Award), Army Good Conduct Award (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with a Campaign Star, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Combat Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar, and numerous other awards, badges, and ribbons.

Jake was preceded in death by his brother, Charles who passed away in March of this year, as well as his father William, and his grandparents.

Jake is survived by his three children: son Nathan Jakubowski of Wichita Falls, TX, daughters Natalie and Nichole Jakubowski both of Holliday, TX; mother, Cheryl and husband, Fred Oakman of Illinois; and sister Vicki and husband Ty Tibbets of Weatherford, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX on October 19, 2026, at 11:15AM. Please arrive by 11:00AM.
