In Loving Memory of Andy “Big Daddy” Ryan

July 7, 1980 – June 13, 2026

Andrew “Bigg Daddy” Ryan was born July 29, 1980, in Newport News, Virginia and was the only child of Frank Ryan and Hellen Gunnels. He passed away suddenly in Fort Worth, TX on June 13, 2026.

Andy graduated from Hirschi High School in 1998 and obtained an Associate in Applied Science for Computer Drafting and Design in May of 2008. He’s worked several occupations from Best Buy & The State Hospital, but the longest and most recent was as an Insurance Adjuster.

When it came to a party it wasn’t truly one until you heard his trademark “Yeah buddy!!!” as it goes back as far as “Ice Cream Paint Job”. The apple did not fall far from the tree when it came to Andy and our late Nana. Just like her, he never met a stranger, just a friend that he didn’t know yet. And throughout his time his bright smile, kindness, and sense of humor had such a lasting impact on others that his sons would constantly hear that joyful comment, “Are you Andy’s son? Man, you have his great demeanor!” By all who had the pleasure of knowing him, he will truly be missed.

Preceded in death by: Hellen Gunnels (mama); Frank Ryan (Father); Elmo & Viola Gunnels Sr (grandparents) Annie Ruth & husband Fred Swanson (Aunt & Uncle); Elmo Gunnels Jr. & wife (uncle); Ellen Williams (Aunt) Andrew & wife Bettye Gunnels (uncle/aunt); Golda Adams (aunt); Beverly Adams-Waggoner (cousin);

Left to cherish his memory are both his sons Ondrā Ryan & Andrew Ryan II ; “Mother-in-love Lillian McGeehon; “Chosen brother” Terry “TJ” Dotson; “Chosen sons” Jaron Humphrey-Jordan & Carlos Castillo; Cousins: Georgiann “Gigi” Gordon, Priest Gordon, Jelani Gordon, Stephen Gunnels, Epiphany Gunnels, Andrewnette Gunnels as well as a host of younger cousins, nieces/nephews (previous marriage) & dear friends.
