Buddy Ray Washburn went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2026. He passed away at home surrounded by family at the age of 77 years old. He was born on June 23, 1949, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Lena Pursell (Anderson) Washburn and Jack Albert Washburn. Buddy attended Hollister Public School and later graduated from Frederick Public School in 1967. He was united in marriage to Juanita Louisa (Harrison) Washburn on February 15th, 1968, in Frederick, Oklahoma. They were together for 54 years of marriage. Buddy was a man of many talents. A jack of all trades, as one might say. He was a carpenter, welder, avid guitar player, and singer for many years. Buddy was a very heated domino player. He was a very passionate outdoorsman. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. Buddy attended Texas A&M University for Mechanical Engineering. He started his mechanical career as a certified GM mechanic and became a certified Corvette technician. Which earned him the name Mr. Corvette. Later

opened the Auto Lab in Burkburnett, Texas, and ran his own business for over 40 years and was given the title Mr. Goodwrench. He was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Hollister Fire Department. Buddy lived a fulfilling life in many ways as he accomplished and achieved more than any one person could imagine.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lena Washburn; his wife, Juanita Washburn; Three brothers: Buster Washburn, Carl Washburn, and Leslie Albert Washburn; Three sisters: Mary Calhoun, Rebecca Mobley, and Sharron Brady; and Daughter-in-law Carrie Collins.

He is survived by Allen Collins, James Washburn and his wife Becky Washburn, Mendi Washburn, John Washburn and his wife Lara Washburn, and Miracle Mills and her Husband Lee White. Buddy was the grandfather to Brooklyn Rollins, Laythen Riggs, Kody Rollins, Preston Washburn, Buddy Washburn, Kendall Rushin, Landon Washburn, Katelyn Washburn, Rasty Washburn, Chris Hancock, Shawn Hancock, Ryan Caporale, Sierra Watson, and Caleb Kirkpatrick. Buddy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and an uncle to a host of nieces and nephews.

Buddy will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in all the lives he touched.

Service will be held on August 1 st at 3:00 p.m. at Hollister First Baptist Church. 515 Majors Ave. Hollister, Oklahoma 73551.
