November 21, 1973 – August 1, 2026

Joey Dale Hill, a lifelong resident of Geronimo, Oklahoma, passed away on August 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of public service, a hearty appetite, a big heart for animals, and a quick wit he was famous for. 

Joey was born on November 21, 1973, he was the son of Matthew William Hill and Bertha Divine Hill and grew up in Geronimo, graduating from Geronimo High School (Class of 1992). With a natural knack for making people laugh—often reminding those around him of a classic Jeff Foxworthy routine—if there was a clever quip to be made, a good meal to be enjoyed, or a room to be brightened, Joey was the man for the job.

Joey lived a life of public service, beginning in 1997 when he became employed by the Geronimo Police Department. Joey’s dedication didn’t stop there, as he furthered his law enforcement career with the Fort Sill Police Department in 2002 faithfully serving until 2019. During this time, he also served the Walters community as a reserve police officer, often times pulling double duty answering the call for service. While employed by the Fort Sill Police Department he served in various roles. During his career, he served as the second in command for the Traffic Section. During his tenure in the Traffic Section, Joey received certificates in Advanced Traffic investigations, Crash Reconstruction, SFST’s and more. Joey eventually promoted to the rank of Sergeant, then to Lieutenant, where he finished his career. 

A dedicated community member, Joey served as a retired police officer, spending time working in the reserves in Walters, Oklahoma. He also spent time driving a trash truck, where he became a local legend to the canine population—he knew every single dog on his route by name and always made sure to bring along a treat for each of them. Away from work, Joey was never one to miss a good game or race; he loved cheering on OSU football and watching NASCAR. He also shared a special bond with his boys celebrating the 4th of July, always looking forward to lighting up firecrackers together in Geronimo. Whether he was on the job, following his favorite teams, setting off fireworks with his sons, or swapping stories, Joey brought warmth and humor everywhere he went.

Joey’s greatest pride and joy were his family. He met his loving wife, Angela Jean Rollins Hill, in Lawton, Oklahoma, and they were married at the little chapel in Lawton on May 30, 1998, sharing 28 wonderful years together. They quickly established their home in Geronimo, where they built their life side by side.

He is also survived by his sons and their families: Justin Tyler Hill, his fiancée McKenzie Keith, and their son Kayson Hill, of Wichita Falls, Texas; along with Justin's son, Jackson Hill, David Matthew Hill and his fiancée, Christine Germann, of Lawton, Oklahoma, along with their son, Levi Hill.

His siblings and their families: sister, Lisa Mitchell, brother, Matt Hill Jr., his wife Kim, and their children Haley and Austin, his brother, William "Bill" Hill and his wife, Amanda, along with their children Colton, Landon, Lillian, and Celeste.

Joey’s warmth, laughter, and sharp wit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved. He leaves behind a whole lot of wonderful memories—and quite a few punchlines.

A celebration of life to honor Joey’s memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the elementary school gymnasium in Geronimo, Oklahoma. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate all the wonderful ways he touched their lives.
